A Cartagena island day pass — known locally as a pasadía — gives you full-day access to a private beach club on one of the islands near Cartagena. Your pass secures a reserved sun lounger or beach bed, access to the club's beach, pool where available, and facilities, plus a Caribbean lunch and welcome drink in most cases.
Round-trip speedboat transportation from Cartagena is typically included. The day pass concept was developed in the Rosario Islands and has since expanded to Tierra Bomba and Barú — allowing travelers to experience a premium, private beach club environment just 10 to 60 minutes from Cartagena's historic center.
What does a Cartagena island day pass
typically include?
While each club varies, most Cartagena island day passes include the following:
- National Park dock fee for Rosario Islands visits (~$8 USD per person, paid in cash at the pier)
- Extra drinks beyond the welcome cocktail
- Additional food outside the set lunch menu
- Water sports and activities such as kayaks or snorkel equipment
- Spa services and massages

Frequently asked questions about
Cartagena island day passes
In low season, same-day booking is sometimes possible. In high season (December–March, July–August), popular clubs sell out days or weeks in advance. We recommend booking at least 3 days ahead to guarantee your preferred club and date.
The Rosario Islands are a protected national marine park. The government requires all visitors to pay an entrance fee of approximately COP 31,500 (~$8 USD) per person, collected directly at the pier in cash. This cannot be included in online bookings. Tierra Bomba and Barú experiences do not require this fee.
Cancellations made more than 72 hours before departure receive a full refund. Cancellations within 72 hours are non-refundable. Free rescheduling is available up to 48 hours before departure, subject to availability.
The Rosario Islands have the widest selection and highest quality beach clubs — including Bora Bora, Capri, Paue, and San Pedro de Majagua. For a closer option, Tierra Bomba offers Makani Luxury Club, which competes with the best Rosario options in terms of facilities.
Booking independently is possible but significantly more complex — you need to arrange your own speedboat, negotiate dock access directly with the club, and pay all fees separately. Booking through Cartagena Day Tours includes the boat, club coordination, and pre-confirmed access at an equivalent price, with far less hassle and no risk of arriving without a confirmed spot.
